Instructions

Step 1 Cover your work surface with a disposable covering.

Step 2 Set the canvas on the drop cloth and position some disposable cups under the canvas edges to elevate the canvas. This will prevent it from sticking.

Step 3 Divide the pouring medium equally into five separate cups, one for each color.

Step 4 Add a small amount of paint (about 1/5 of the amount of pouring medium) to each of the cups, and blend well, using a craft stick. You will need a cup each of Pink, Light Blue, Yellow, Gray and Aqua.

TIP: To make Pink, begin with white paint in the pouring medium/cup, add a very small amount of red and mix well. Add more small amounts of red until you obtain the color you desire. To tone down the brightness of the yellow, add a very small amount of red to the yellow paint in the cup, and blend well.

Step 5 Once all the paint/pouring medium mixtures are ready, you are ready to pour them onto the canvas. Pour a half dollar size puddle of paint onto the canvas in two or three areas, using one color. Pour the next color directly into the puddles. Keep adding new colors to the puddle until you have added all of the colors to the canvas. You can add more colors to the mixture as desired.

Step 6 Take a craft stick, and drag it through the puddles once to get the colors to start mixing together. Do not swirl the colors with the stick, just drag it through the paint. Overmixing can result in muddy colors.

Step 7 Wearing disposable gloves, pick up the canvas and tilt it in one direction so the paint begins to mix and marble. Tilt in other directions until the canvas is covered and you are happy with the look. To get the sides covered, you can simply dip them into the paint that has run off the canvas onto the table. Lay the canvas on cups to let it drip and dry. Let dry completely for 24 hours.
