This class will build on the principles and techniques discussed in the previous week's class titled Drawing Eyes Using the Planes of the Face. In this class, we will continue to use the contour lines that describe the planes of the face to draw the eyes. However, we will go one step further and attempt to capture an emotion or expression in the eyes using the contour lines and value shapes as our guides. We will start sketching eyes using a Gretacolor Artist Pencil in Sanguine Oil to sketch out a pair of expressive eyes using primarily contour lines. Then, we will sketch the empty value shapes of the next pair of expressive eyes in the same pencil, but then add value using illustration pens and erase our pencil lines. We will use a similar technique to sketch the third pair of expressive eyes in pen & ink, but focus mostly on the contrast and value shapes with this sketch. Reference photos will be provided.
