Value refers to the dark and light of a color. When learning to draw, a gradient or value scale can be used to best help a learner define the shapes of shadows and light that appear on a three-dimensional form. In this class, we will use a hard tip brush pen to add value to drawings from the previous week's class entitled "Learn to Draw 3D Forms: Understanding Contour Lines" using instructor-provided reference photos and the four pen & ink shading techniques: hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and scribbling.
