Amethyst has always been associated with February, the month the Romans dedicated to Neptune, their water-god. Therefore, it should be no surprise that it is the traditional birthstone of that month. It is the stone of St. Valentine and faithful love and signifies ecclesiastical dignity as the Bishop’s Stone. The amethyst beads in the first jewelry set vary in color from dark purple to white. The necklace is about 20" long. The sterling silver filled wire is sculpted around a deep purple amethyst. The pendant is about 3" long. The earrings are single drops of amethyst beads dangling from French hook ear wires. The earrings are about 1" long. The second jewelry set features a variety of colors in the round amethyst beads. The necklace is about 20" long. Focal beads are long beads of amethyst that are sort of spear shaped but also rectangulare shaped. The edges have been rounded on the focal beads. Each bead is about 3" long. The earrings are single drops of amethyst beads dangling from sterling silver French hook ear wires and are about1.5" long.
