Antique Narwhal Tusk Cast Resin Tooth Replica 10”
This is a resin cast replica of a narwhal canine tooth, or ‘horn’. Because the trade of original bone material from whales has been outlawed, this replica was created from a sculpture which duplicates the texture of a real tusk in painstaking detail. Note the series of small ridges running parallel to the spiral grooves. These are unique to each animal, much like a fingerprint, and often show signs of damage and repair, a testament to the hardy constitution of these creatures. At 10 inches (25.4cm) long, this tooth is the perfect size to display on a shelf or in a cabinet of curiosities. The cast comes wrapped in black satin and includes an information card for display. In medieval Europe, narwhal tusks were often mistaken for the horns of unicorns, and were thought to have supernatural healing properties. By the 17th century, these horns became centerpieces of many curio cabinets. Mythical Era Fossils brings you the most detailed replicas on the market. We use only the highest-quality materials and traditional molding techniques to capture the details of original specimens down to the microscopic level. Every crack, crystal, and cavity is perfectly preserved to deliver a museum-quality display piece. Our resin cast replicas are lighter, stronger, and less expensive than original bones and fossils. This makes them ideal for display, research, accessories, etc. Each item is handcrafted in the U.S. with slight color variations ensuring a unique, one-of-a-kind gift.
