These little handmade cheese knives or butter spreaders feature a hand-built clay handle, often impressed with a small button featuring a whirl, and glazed in colorful stripes, dots and patterns that are sure to delight you. The knife or spreader portion of the piece is stainless steel and is securely fitted inside the handle. Handle and blade measure around 5" long. Dishwasher safe. In order to glaze the handle of these butter knives, the bottom needs to be unglazed in the kiln so they don't stick to the shelf. So, my final step is to use food-grade china paints that are baked onto the clay so each one is be decorated on all sides.
