Edward Burne-Jones, Praising Angel Art, Angel Paperweight, Stained Glass Window, Heirloom Rectangle, Glass Paperweight

Product Description

This glass paperweight features an image of the 1902 "Praising Angel" stained glass window designed by Pre-Raphaelite artist, Sir Edward Burne-Jones, and made by Morris & Co. It has a hand-painted black border. The heirloom rectangle paperweight measures 4 1/4 x 2 7/8 x 1" and weighs 14.2 ounces with a signed, matching felt bottom. The design and manufacture of stained glass was one of Morris & Co’s specialties. Burne-Jones originally designed this angel in 1878 for Salisbury Cathedral, but it was popular enough to be reused several times. This version is from a series of eight windows made in 1902 for a house in Kensington belonging to George McCulloch, a mining magnate. The piece is a fragment, with the upper half of the angel playing a harp decorated with an intricate fish-scale pattern. *Please note that my paperweights contain high-quality printed images and not actual stained glass, embroidered fabrics or tapestry.
