This double strand necklace is a cool river of stone and silver. The stones are shades of gray river rock (basalt) tumbled into smooth tiles. The findings are sterling silver plated over brass (links) or steel (the clasp). Basalt river rock is a fine-grained igneous stone formed from the rapid cooling of low viscosity (slow, thick) lava rich in magneseum and iron. It has no crystaline structure, but instead embodies the formative strength of the Earth. Our gray river rock necklace measures approximately 21 inches along the top (shorter) strand. The longer strand measures just over 22 inches so the two lay closely together, forming a single bold statement.
