This piece is made from wood harvested from fell trees in Iowa and South Dakota. Each wood slice was cut, sanded, colored, and finished individually by hand. The colored slices are arranged in the shape of a lotus flower in a mosaic fashion. The piece measures 30" x 19" x 3". They were colored using a watered down latex paint as a stain. The other wood slices were finished using mineral oil to highlight the interesting growth rings and grain patterns and let their natural beauty be on display.
