This personalized handmade wall decoration of an aspen tree carved with the names of the couple and their wedding date is a unique and thoughtful gift for a woodland wedding, an anniversary or housewarming gift. Perfect for a mountain or a Colorado wedding. I create this ceramic tree trunk log out of a white clay and then hand carve the names and wedding date in a heart. It's a nice eco-friendly way to have your names carved into a tree forever --- without harming a live tree :-) I also carve in the knotholes and lines that are so indicative of the quaking aspen tree and add a branch or two and some leaves that can be glazed in spring, summer or fall colors. You might know these as birch trees in the Midwest and East. Pottery stains are used to bring out the carvings and the color of the aspen leaves that I sculpt and attach. Then in the final glaze firing, I only glaze the leaves with a glossy translucent glaze which provides a wonderful contrast to the unglazed matte finish on the rest of the tree trunk.
