To escape from the rainy and cloudy weather in the winter, I often head to the island of Kauai. This year there were sea turtles in the waters in front of the place I stayed which provided inspiration for a series of painting (and some pottery as well). I painted this sweet turtle on Arches 140 lb watercolor paper using artist quality pigments. The background is a watery composition of greens, blues and golds while the turtle was painted in shades of green, blue, teal and warm yellow.
