Painted Pewter Earrings Navy Blue Green Pink Gunmetal Chain Tassel Pierced or Clip On
I must be crazy for spending so much time painting old pewter beads, but the results are gorgeous! Metallic navy blue outlines the frame of this Asian-inspired pendant necklace. I hand-painted two coats of navy blue around the sides of the bead, two coats in front, and two coats in back. Each of these six coats had to dry before adding the next one. I then painted the leaves in bright spring green, two coats front and back, and the flowers in hot pink fuchsia with a touch of orange. I covered the whole pewter bead with two coats of sealer for protection. That's 18 separate coats of color and 6 applications of lacquer. Every color, front, back, and sides have to be done separately. Front and back of the 1-5/8" x 1-1/16" (40x26mm) pewter bead are identical, mostly flat with a raised design. Sides are 3mm thick with a rounded edge. Cobalt glass beads accents. Extra-extra-long 5-1/16" (13cm) with a 2-1/2" (65mm) gunmetal chain tassel. Nickel-free pierced wires or non-pierced clip-ons.
