A set of coasters in beautiful, durable, full grain leather. These are not merely a circle punched out of some scrap, these simple objects have been given all the same care and consideration as my larger goods. They measure 4 inches across, and are 1/4 of an inch thick. The leather has been pre-stretched, tooled, dyed, clear coated, stitched, and the edges have been polished to an eye-catching shine. Stretching the leather helps it lay flat and prevents warping in the future. Tooling refers to the process of imprinting the designs deep into the leather with a set of mallet driven stamps. Each of these four coasters in the set comes with its own unique tooled pattern. The sunburst dye is not only handsome on its own, the gradient allows the coasters to blend into most any wood type without the worry of a noticeable mismatch as often occurs with solid brown leathers on wood surfaces. The thick acrylic clear-coat gives the leather significantly more resistance to moisture, but the finish can still be discolored if rings or spills allowed to sit wet for too long without wiping down. They will protect the surface they rest on without fail, but use with heavily sweating glassware risks damage to the finish of the coasters. Their ideal use case is with hot beverages. The smooth back side could be assigned use with drinks that will leave rings. The two layered, stitched construction creates a laminate that will remain flat throughout the years. As each layer tries to warp o
