All you have to do is put your softened butter into the bell portion, fill the bottom dish with 1/4 inch of water and then replace the top (your butter will hang upside down, how awesome is that!) This keeps the butter good for 30 days. Change water every 3 days. Holds 3/4 cup butter comfortably (about 6-8 oz.) Great gift item for weddings or housewarming gifts!
