Wood Salt Cellar With Lid, Salt Pig, Pinch Pot, Pinch Bowl, Includes Personalization, Walnut Hardwood

Product Description

Salt boxes are also called salt cellars or salt pigs. Whatever the name, this is a very handy salt storage box to have in the kitchen. The lid pivots on brass pins, which can be seen from the sides of the box. A bevel along the inner edge of the back of the box allows the lid to open passed 90 degrees so that it will stay open without the worry of snapping shut. The pivot side of the lid is also rounded to ensure free opening of the box. The inside and outside receive a generous coat of mineral oil to bring out the beauty of the wood and the outside is finished with beeswax and mineral oil paste. A tin of the beeswax paste is included with each salt box. This hand crafted wooden salt box is made almost entirely from walnut hardwood. The bottom panel is made from birch plywood. Because this is a wood product, it should not be exposed to moisture for extended periods of time. If it happens to get dirty, simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth and dry it completely. Every once in a while, reapply the beeswax paste mixture to the outside of the box. Just rub a small amount on and then buff it smooth. Also, no two boxes will look the same. Grain pattern and tone of the hardwood will vary. I try to select attractive boards to use in all of my projects. The approximate dimensions of the boxes are as follows: Small: 4"L x 3"W x 2.75"H Medium: 5"L x 3"W x 2.75"H Large: 6"L x 3.5"W x 3.5"H These boxes will hold approximately 1.25 cups, 2 cups, and 3.25 cups of salt, respectively.
