Wendy Varner Designs

I live in Charlotte, NC and am a mom to four grown children and six grandchildren. I have always had a love of art, texture, color and creativity. In school, I chose art as an elective any chance I got. I graduated salutatorian and was awarded a scholarship to the local art institute, though I chose to marry and have a family instead. Soon after my husband and I were married, he went completely blind due to a health condition. He has always been supportive of my love for creativity. While I was busy raising kids, I, without hesitation, put my love for art on the back burner. Once my kids were grown, I quickly immersed myself into art, going directly to my affinity, which is watercolor. For the past seven years, I have become skilled at painting watercolor home portraits but I was introduced to the world of polymer clay art. I quickly learned this technique and am enjoying every minute of it. One of my favorite things about it is that my husband can "see" the clay pieces because of their shape and texture and it brings me great joy to be able to share this with him. I can describe the color and he can have a clear idea of what each piece looks like.
