I opted to switch my traditional embroidery hoop from Michael’s to using this tension hoop. I like it so much better since my fabric stays tight for longer. My fabric does tend to get loose over time, but my craft is punch needling which literally is punching holes into the fabric. Overall, it was good purchase, and also a good upgrade for me.

This hoop provides better tension than traditional wooden embroidery hoops so it’s easier to work with in my opinion. My only caveat is that you should make sure to take your fabric out of the hoop when you’re not working on it because if you’re embroidering something thin like a cotton onesie it can end up tearing the fabric slightly. If I take the onesie out of the hoop when I’m not working on it this doesn’t happen though.
