So far the easel seems very sturdy and can hold large canvases securely. Building it was a little like building a piece of furniture from Ikea. All the instructions and parts were there. This is a large easel and doesn’t collapse down to as small as some other different easel types do. That is however the nature of an H frame easel. If you are looking for something that is sturdy and can hold large canvases, this is perfect for you! We are very satisfied.

This is the second one I've bought.  The first was a gift for my son, this one is for me. We travel a lot and I enjoy painting while at the beach.  I wouldn't use this as an everyday easel.  But great for outdoors.

The first time I used my easel it collapsed on me. The extensions on the front legs did not hold in place. Once they went the the back leg folded and down everything went. I discovered that the hand tightened nut’s don’t stay tightened. I had a man tighten them and they still didn’t stay secure. Lucky I purchased lock washers. Once they were in place, the nuts stay tighten and all is well!! I now love my easel.
