Instructions

Step 1:

Trace all of the patterns onto desired colors of foam sheets and assemble. Add details with the black Sharpie.

Step 2:

Measure the door you are decorating. The bottom section should cover the door from the bottom to 2/3 of the way up the door. Double stick tape the paper to the door.

Step 3:

Make the top of the back pack from the paper roll to go about 1/3 of the way down from the top. Curve the top of the backpack slightly. Make two straps and the hanger loop from black cardstock. Adhere to the door.

Step 4:

Add stitching details around the backpack on the door using the Sharpie. Use the image as a guide.

Step 5:

Make a latch for the back pack from the Tan foam. Cut two strips about 2" x 12". Attach one strip to the D ring, adhere to the door and trim the excess.

Step 6:

Create the nameplate. Lay out the letters for the name, then cut the tan foam to size to fit the letters. Adhere the letters to the foam, then adhere the nameplate to the door.

Step 7:

Adhere the "patches" to the door.

Step 8:

Make pom poms from the Wine and Guacamole yarn to attach to the backpack using the Pom Pom Maker. Follow the directions on the package.

Step 9:

Make tassels for the backpack. Wrap the Fiesta yarn around a piece of cardboard the size you want the tassel to be. Wrap it around at least 25 times. Slide the yarn off the cardboard and tie a 12" piece of yarn through the loops to secure. Gather the yarn in one hand and tie a piece of yarn about 1" down. Cut the yarn at the opposite end to create the tassel. Tie the pom poms and tassel onto the D ring on the backpack.

Step 10:

If desired, make name cards for students and adhere to the pocket of the backpack.
