Gold Craft Pumpkin Candle Holder

Bring the gilded colors of Fall into your home with this golden pumpkin table decoration.

Instructions

Step 1:

Measure the bottom of the glass candle holder. Plug in the hot knife and heat it to the highest setting. When it is hot, cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin around the stem that is slightly smaller than the bottom of the glass candle holder. Remove the stem piece and discard.

Step 2:

Shake the liquid gilding well and paint the entire pumpkin. Let dry.

Step 3:

Paint on Mona Lisa™ Metal Leaf™ adhesive with a paintbrush over the top of the pumpkin, around the opening and a little down the side. Brush the adhesive along the indentations in the pumpkin. Let the glue dry until it is tacky.

Step 4:

Lay a sheet of the gold leaf onto the tacky adhesive, rub it down and then remove. Brush over the gold leaf on the pumpkin with a soft brush to remove excess. Continue this process until you have added gold leaf every place you have adhesive. Brush excess away.

Step 5:

Cut leaves off the floral bush and a few of the Airy Heather stems, using the wire cutter. Glue some leaves around the hole in the top of the pumpkin. Further embellish with a few pieces of the Airy Heather, as desired.

Step 6:

Place a piece of masking tape around the glass candle holder about 3" from the bottom. Paint the bottom portion using the liquid gilding. Set aside to dry.

Step 7:

To create the pedestal, paint the wood candle holder with liquid gilding. Let dry. Clean your brush with paint thinner (or turpentine).

Step 8:

Stain the basswood plate Dark Walnut. Dip a soft rag (or paper towel) in the stain, rub it onto the plate and wipe off. Continue this until the entire plate, front and back, is stained. Let dry.

Step 9:

Hot glue the stained wood plate to the gilded wood candle holder. Place the pumpkin on the plate. Place the glass cylinder on top of the pumpkin in the center. Insert batteries into the LED candle and place the candle in the glass cylinder.
