Step 1:
First, click here for the design in Cricut® Design Space™.
Step 2:
Click 'Make It' in the upper right of your screen. Click ‘Continue' in the lower right of the next screen.
Step 3:
Select ‘Tooling Leather: 4-5 oz. (1.6 mm)'; then place your material, face down, onto your cutting mat. Place masking tape around the perimeter of your leather on the mat for an extra secure hold.
Step 4:
Load the mat into your Cricut® machine; then change the housing in clamp B to the deep blade and add the scoring stylus to clamp A. Follow the prompts in Design Space®.
Step 5:
Carefully remove the leather and pieces from the mat.
Step 6:
Fold along the score lines (the best you can) to crease.
Step 7:
Assemble your planter. Use hot glue to attach the creased tabs around the solid pentagon to the inside of the planter and the one on the side to close the planter. The tabs will fit exactly to the height of the piece across the bottom of the open pentagons.
TIP: Use the image as a guide.
Step 8:
Cut five 24”-30” [61 cm - 76.2 cm] pieces of jute. Thread one through each hole at the top of the open pentagons around your planter. Arrange so fold of the jute is in the middle of the jute pieces.
Step 9:
Hold the jute pieces together on one pentagon and slide on a wood bead. Push down so it sits on the pointed top of the pentagon. Repeat for each pentagon around your planter.
Step 10:
Now, separate the jute ends. Take a jute end from one pentagon and an end from the pentagon to its immediate right. Hold them together and add a wood bead. Slide it down to about the middle. Repeat around your planter to form the hanging macramé look of your planter.
Step 11:
Gather all jute ends and bring up to the middle of the planter. Stretch them so they are all taut. About 3” [7.6 cm] from the end, fold the jute over your finger to form a loop. Remove your finger but hold the loop shape.
Step 12:
Add a dab of hot glue about 1”-2” [2.5 cm - 5 cm] below the fold. Wrap a piece of jute around all the jute. Wrap several times. Add hot glue as needed as you wrap.
TIP: Use a rubber band around the jute and, if needed, you can also stick a pencil through the loop to help hold the shape.
Step 13:
Cut the wrapped jute from the skein and hot glue the end flush.
Step 14:
Trim any ends that may be visible below the wrap.
Step 15:
Add your plant and shape the jute around the leaves and branches.
