Whimsy Styrofoam® Peppermint Swirl

Add a touch of sweetness and Christmas cheer to your treat bar with this classic peppermint decor piece.

Instructions

Step 1:

Print pattern from michaels.com.

Click here to download your pattern.

Step 2:

Trace pattern onto each of the Styrofoam® wheels with a pencil. Adjust template to fit each size of Styrofoam®.

Step 3:

One piece of Styrofoam® at a time, use a paintbrush to fill in the red area of the pattern with Mod Podge®. Paint one small section at a time and sprinkle red glitter on top. Shake off excess.

Step 4:

Once it has dried, repeat the last step on the white areas of the peppermint and sprinkle white glitter on top. Shake to remove excess. Glitter the sides as well.

Step 5:

When all peppermints have dried, hot glue the bottom three pieces to the wood.

Step 6:

Layer the small peppermints on top and stick mini dowels between the two layers to hold them together. Push the dowel into the back of the small peppermint, without going all the way through, and then place on top of the bottom peppermint. Push gently to secure the two pieces together.

Step 7:

Cut the Merry Christmas ribbon so that you can read the words clearly, leaving a little bit of room on either side. Attach to the top of the peppermintsv using small pins.

Step 8:

String transite or ribbon onto the wood on the back to create a hanger.
